What a Corporate Headshot Investment Actually Covers

A professional headshot investment covers the right image, not a gallery of options. When you book corporate headshots in Kingsport with me, you know the investment, what it includes and what it does not, and you leave knowing which images you chose, because I know where the image will be used before I take a single frame. My pricing is clear, complete, and correct.

Why is the headshot the place to start?

Because everyone needs one, no matter who they are or what they do.

Not long ago I was putting together a promotional social media post at the last minute. I needed images of five people, so I did what anyone would do. I went looking online: company websites, blogs, staff directories. Two of the five images were professional. One was okay. Two were terrible.

I used what I found, because that is what was available. This is what happens to everyone. When someone needs your photo for an introduction, a program, an award announcement or a news story, they will not call to ask which one you prefer. They will take whatever the internet offers them.

So the real question is not whether your image will be used without you. It will. The question is whether the image people find is one you chose. If the photo on your company directory is the one you would least like to see on a flyer, the time to replace it is before someone else needs it.

The headshot is the entry point because it is the one image every professional needs, and the one other people will reach for first.

What am I actually paying for?

You are paying for a finished image that fits its purpose, and for the decisions that get you there.

In my early years, the first question on almost every call was "How much?" Once I shared a number, the call ended quickly. Those callers were shopping on price alone, and that was all they wanted to know.

It has been a long time since anyone asked me that first. The investment is listed on my booking page. It is not a secret. The calls I get now are about what is included, because the people calling are already comfortable with the figure. Once a client knows what they need, they are willing to invest in getting it right.

That is the standard I hold my pricing to:

  • Clear. You know your investment before you book.

  • Complete. You know what it includes and what it does not.

  • Correct. You get an image that meets your needs, because you and I talk about where it will be used before the session begins.

Do I get every image from my session?

No, and that works in your favor.

Many people assume they are paying for a gallery of unlimited images to sort through later. That is not how I work. You and I select your images together before you leave my studio. You know exactly what to expect, and I do not spend hours editing photographs that will never be used.

My goal is to get the picture right in camera. If you and I look at a frame and decide the expression or angle should be different, I retake it right there instead of trying to turn an image into something it is not later. Most of the work you are investing in happens in that room, while you can see it.

That is also why clients who come to me after working with another photographer often say the experience is no comparison. They tell me they did not feel rushed. Elsewhere, they don't always get to see their images during the session.

Who chooses the final image?

You can, or you can ask me to choose for you. Most leaders ask me to choose.

Executives, attorneys and board members rarely want to go back and forth over nearly identical frames. They rely on my experience and ask me to make the choice based on what I know about presence, power and influence. I take that responsibility seriously. The image I recommend is the one that will do its job where it is going, not simply the one that flatters most at full size.

What does retouching include?

Retouching is done as needed, and it should look natural.

The best retouch is the one you cannot detect. My editing is personalized to each person rather than a single filter applied to everyone who walks through the door. Clients often tell me their images finally look like them. The difference is not dramatic. It is deliberate.

What does the team organizer get?

For a team day, the organizer gets their time back. If you are planning one, my guide to team headshots for small businesses covers the visual standard.

Every participant books their own appointment, so the person who arranged the session does not have to track time slots, field phone calls or answer endless emails about who goes when. When a company chooses a photographer on price alone, the savings often turn into extra hours on the organizer's desk.

Commercial clients also receive a web-based image library they can reach anytime, from anywhere. I sort the images into albums, so no one has to hunt through folders or old email threads to find the right file. I can provide different sizes and formats on request. When someone needs their images, they send me an email or a text, and I send a secure login to download them.

Because I keep that library, I can see the last portrait I made for you. When a new hire joins or an executive needs an update, I can keep the look consistent, if that is what you want. You do not have to think about it.

What happens after delivery?

You receive exactly what was agreed, including the delivery timing set when you booked.

If you later decide you want another image from your session, additional images can be purchased. I keep raw images for six months, so that choice stays open well after your session day.

Frequently asked questions

Do I receive every photo taken during my headshot session?

No. You and I select your images before you leave the studio, and only those images are retouched and delivered. This keeps the focus on images you will actually use.

Can I ask the photographer to choose my final headshot?

Yes. Many leaders prefer it. I recommend the image based on where it will be used and what it needs to communicate there.

Can I buy more images after my session?

Yes. Additional images can be purchased later. I keep raw images for six months after the session.

How do companies access their team headshots later?

Commercial clients have a web-based image library sorted into albums. A secure download login is available anytime by email or text request.

Where can I find the investment for a headshot session?

The investment is listed on my booking page. Your session confirmation states what is included and what is not.

Can new team members match our existing headshots?

Yes. Because I keep each client's image library, I can reference the most recent session and keep the look consistent for new hires and updates.
